The Penguin Paddle is one of the most beloved and anticipated events at Holiday Valley, drawing families and fun-lovers together for a great cause. This all-day celebration is the primary fundraiser for the Lounsbury Adaptive Ski Program (LASP), helping individuals with disabilities experience the joy of skiing.
Held slope-side at the Yodeler Lodge, the Penguin Paddle is unlike anything you’ve experienced. Why the name? Because every February, hundreds of participants—young and old—slip into helmets and oversized black garbage bags to belly-slide down the lower Yodeler ski slope, just like penguins. It’s a hilarious, heartwarming spectacle that combines fun and philanthropy in equal measure.
The event features more than just the famous races. Enjoy a delicious buffet cookout lunch, try your luck with the raffle, and browse a silent auction packed with over 150 items. From gift baskets and ski gear to home decor and gift cards to Ellicottville’s favorite local restaurants, there’s something for everyone.
