Almost as quickly as the winter season ramped up in December, it came to a halt as March ended. A combination of warm temps and April showers have made it so that we will not be able to reopen for one final weekend out on the slopes. So now we’re looking back on what was truly a fantastic 2024-25 ski and snowboard season here at Holiday Valley. From the very first turns on Opening Day, Friday, December 6, to the final spring runs on March 30, it’s been a winter to remember. With 182 inches of natural snow blanketing our slopes and a full calendar of fun, adventure, and family moments, Holiday Valley once again delivered the winter experience our guests know and love.
Whether you spent your season carving groomers, learning your first turns, racing gates, or flying down the tubing lanes, we’re grateful you made us part of your winter story.
Snow, Smiles, and the Magic of Mother Nature
This winter, Mother Nature really returned to Western New York! With consistent snowfall throughout the early parts of the season, our slopes were coated in fresh multiple times this winter. But the real MVP? The Holiday Valley Snowmaking and Mountain Ops teams. When the temperatures dropped, they jumped into action, working around the clock to capitalize on every cold snap. Thanks to their dedication and expertise, we were able to open the entire resort quickly and keep it in very good condition all season long.
Events That Brought The Valley to Life
Winter at Holiday Valley is about more than just skiing and riding, it’s about community, celebration, and making memories together. This year’s event lineup was nothing short of spectacular, offering something for everyone in the family.
We rang in the New Year with our annual fireworks display, lighting up the sky above the slopes in a dazzling show of color and sparkle. College Daze brought energy and excitement to the resort, with students enjoying live music and great vibes on and off the slopes. The “free the heel” ski spirit was alive and well at Telestock, where The City Garage team put together a fantastic day of teleskiing shenanigans.
Winter Carnival returned in full force, complete with the Snowbar, cookouts, games, and that feeling of winter fun in the air. And for our riders, the always-popular Boardroom Banked Slalom was a hit and brought riders from all over to the Ellicottville area.
Growing the Next Generation of Snow Lovers
One of our greatest joys at Holiday Valley is helping new skiers and snowboarders fall in love with winter sports. The Holiday Valley Snowsports School had another amazing season, introducing kids (and adults) to the mountain in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. Our instructors are pros at building confidence and skills, and this winter they helped thousands of guests start their journey toward a new snow-focused lifestyle.
Beyond beginners, our freestyle and racing programs were in full swing all season long. From terrain park sessions to alpine races, these young athletes trained hard, competed fiercely, and made us proud every step of the way. Their dedication, sportsmanship, and passion for the mountain are truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to see what they’ll accomplish next.
Tubing Park Fun for the Whole Family
Just down the road, the Holiday Valley Tubing Park was buzzing all season long. Guests came from near and far to experience the joy of sliding down our groomed tubing lanes, no skills or skis required! Whether it was your first ride or your fiftieth, there’s nothing quite like the laughter echoing across the park as families race each other down, then warm up with hot cocoa inside the cozy warming hut.
It was a banner season for tubing, and we’re so happy to have shared it with so many families looking for classic winter fun.
A Warm Thank You to Our Holiday Valley Family
As we close out the 2024-25 season, we want to send a heartfelt thank you to you…our guests, families, passholders, weekend warriors, weekday explorers, and everyone who makes Holiday Valley such a special place. Whether it was your first time visiting or your 50th, we’re grateful you chose to make your winter memories with us.
We also want to give a huge shoutout to our incredible team across all departments: snowmakers, lift operators, instructors, groomers, hospitality staff, patrollers, food & beverage, and so many more, who work tirelessly to make each day on the mountain safe, smooth, and full of smiles.
Looking Ahead…
While we’re sad to see winter wind down, we’re already dreaming about what’s next. Spring adventures, golfing, summer ziplining and hiking, mountain biking, fall foliage getaways… and naturally, we’re already thinking about the next ski season, too!
If you loved your time here this winter, now’s the perfect time to start planning your return; especially with convenient ski-and-stay packages, ski-in/ski-out lodging, and activities the whole family will love.
